Cignature birth name Phillip Cousins was born in Kingston Jamaica in June 1989. Growing in the Kingston 6 area he went to born prep school and high school in the parish. He started his musical journey from a young age, first singing in his prep school choir at St Hugh’s Prep school while also tuning his craft playing in the church band at bethel Baptist as the congo drummer. Later in his high school years after moving to Wolmer’s Boys’ school from Arden high school, he began to turn his music talent to writing and performing his own songs for his school mates. His ability quickly developed and he found himself performing for the school at their social events commonly known a school BBQ. In 2007 after leaving Wolmer’s Boys he attended the University of the West Indies for a short period before realizing that music was his true passion. In 2008 through life’s journey, he arrived in the UK where he has since laid a major part of his musical roots, the shift of culture aided in his mental development which can also been heard through his music. After experiencing the best of both worlds in the Caribbean and in the UK, he is able to tell a real story through his music, detailing the struggles faced by many in the world also, about the dreams of many everyday people. He believe’s that music should be used as a medium to teach the next generations what we are going through also, to help guide them. Now Cignature is focusing his music to have a more positive vibe, through the use of positive lyrics, he hopes to make people feel happy no matter what situation they are experiencing. His music can be seen as happy music or feel good music as he show a wide range of versatility and therefore is not restricted to any one individual style of music. Now working with CJ Records he is exploring wider range of genres and is working on a lot of new and exciting projects and material.
